An Egyptian court has just dismissed former President Hosni Mubarak of any criminal charges. Mubarak had been charged with killing over 239 protesters during the 2011 uprising against him. In addition to Mubarak, seven senior ex-officials were are dismissed of charges.
After the decision was announced, there were over 2,000 people that gathered near Tahrir Square to voice their frustration and disappointment in the decision. Police reacted to the crowd by firing tear gas.
Mubarak is still serving a three year sentence but it is for embezzling public funds. He claims he has done "nothing wrong at all."
Will this decision and resulting state brutality once again incite an uprising or will it put out any last flame of dissent?
